AM SO SORRY FOR SACKING YOU: ROBERT MUGABE APOLOGISES TO JOICE MUJURU
Former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has met with Joice Mujuru, the deputy president he sacked four years ago, and has reportedly apologised for chasing her out of the ruling party,Zanu-PF
93-year-old Mugabe met Mujuru at his Harare mansion last week.
According to the local press in Zimbabwe,Mugabe asked for her forgiveness.
Mujuru’s spokesperson Gift Nyandoro confirmed the meeting to the press.Nyandoro said the meeting was intiated by Mugabe himself.
“Yes, it is true they met at the former president’s residence on Tuesday. The meeting took place after an invitation from the former head of state,” Nyandoro said.
“The former president was very happy to see Mujuru and it was the first time they met since she was expelled from the party. He apologised for what happened but as a mother Mujuru had long forgiven him. She has a forgiving heart.”
Mujuru, Zimbabwe’s first female vice president, was sacked in December 2014 from the Zanu-PF and government after a campaign of vilification by former first lady Grace Mugabe, who accused her of trying to topple her husband from power.
