Chibuku Product Limited driver fined MK250 000 in Mangochi for causing death by reckless driving

First magistrate court in Mangochi has fine Chibuku Product Limited driver Aman Steven MK250 000 after being found guilty of causing death by reckless driving.

Malawi News Hub reported last week that Steven killed a pupil of St Augustine 3 Primary School which is along Mangochi Monkey-Bay road in the district.

The pupil, a 7-year old Akbar Makiyi sustained multiple fractures and died on the spot.

Police also had reported the vehicle that was involved in the accident was stoned by a group of angry pupils from the school.

In his judgment, Ronald M’bwana slapped the convict withMK250 000 fine of which he managed to pay in cash in default to 24 months Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL).

The accused pleaded guilty but mitigated for leniency which the state prosecutor refuted.

Aman Steven hails from Chapotera Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre.
