Malawi has lost one of her former brilliant soccer player Noel Mkandawire who was popularly known as ‘Amfumu’ at the peak of his career.
Mkandawire died on Saturday July 01, 2017 in his home district of Mzimba after a long illness which attracted attention of the general public few days before his death.
Reports indicate that the former ESCOM United man who also played for Civo United had a liver problem which resulted into swollen stomach.
Malawi News Hub also understands that Amfumu’s left leg got swollen which caused walking challenges.
Former Malawi national team coach Kinnah Phiri jumped in to support the player after his challenges were made public on Facebook by some top former football players in the country.
Mkandawire has died at age of 39.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the burial ceremony will be held on Monday at Euthini in Mzimba.
