Police in the capital Lilongwe are keeping in custody four soccer fans believed to be Carlsberg Cup Champions Nyasa Big Bullets fans for allegedly injuring Mighty Be Forward Wanderers players and damaging their bus.
The four are suspected of committing the offence after a game between the two soccer powerhouses at Bingu National Stadium (BNS).
The game which ended in favour of Big Bullets on post match penalties was cup final of Carlsberg Competition.
Zodiak reported that the suspected Big Bullets fans were singing mockery songs as the Wanderers Bus was leaving BNS a thing which did not go down well with those who were in the bus.
Reports say Wanderers players dragged one of the Bullets fans into the bus and started beating him. The other Bullets then began stoning the bus injuring some individuals in the process.
Confirming the development, Lingadzi Police Public Relations Officer Foster Benjamin told the media that they opened a case against the four but the investigations are still going on.
Some soccer analysts have described the incident as worrisome in the sports world.
Carlsberg Malawi once stopped sponsoring the competition following abandonment of the 2002 final match of the competition between the same teams that reached the final this season.
