One of the non governmental organizations based in north Malawi Inclusive Organization has launched inclusive education project with an aim making education accessible by children of wide range backgrounds.
The launch took place at the end of last week at Vibangalala Teachers Development Centre (TDC) where parents and teachers from different schools were in attendance.
Chiwondwe school headteacher Cry Ng’oma told the gathering that the project is aimed towards providing all children with education without discrimination based on any ground.
Concurring with the headteacher, Inclusive Organization representative at the function stated that there are some factors which hinder inclusive education.
Among the factors are discrimination against those with physical challenges and children in extreme poverty.
The project is expected to change how teachers handle a class which comprises of learners that need special attention and further fight for infrastructure development that make it for handicapped to access services.
“In inclusive education we need to make teachers realise that the classes they handle have variety of pupils”, said the representative.
Parents,teachers and pupils who attended the ceremony were from Ndaba, Chiwondwe Nkhulung’uta, Swaswa and Vibangala schools.
