Mangochi First Grade Magistrate Court had, on April 3, 2017, a rare case of defilement to preside involving a juvenile Binali Wikisoni aged 16 and underaged 11 year girl.
The court found the minor offender guilty of defilement as contrary to section 138 (1) of the penal code. He was consequently sentenced to 36 months and sent to Chirwa Approved School.
Presenting the case in court, a state prosecutor Sub Inspector Laston Sabola said that the victim is a niece to the accused who pleaded not guilty during the court proceedings.
The prosecutor further told the court that Wikison followed the girl on her way to fetch water when her parents were away to receive relief food at Nankhwali Primary School.
The accused was caught by people who heard the victim shouting and rushed to the scene.
Upon hearing both sides, his worship first grade magistrate Ronald M’bwana found the accused guilty to the charge and ordered that he be sent to Chirwa Approved School for 36 months for reformation.
Binali Wikisoni hails from Kabethi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nankumba in the district.
