Malawi ambassador to Zimbabwe Annie Kumwenda had time to admire energy infrastructure project in Zimbabwe being constructed by China’s Sinohydro.
Kumwenda also expressed how Malawi would benefit a lot from power infrastructures saying that the country faces challenges in its energy sector.
The Malawi ambassador to Zimbabwe was speaking to media after touring the Kariba Hydro South Extension Project.
She told the media that, “Malawi is equally in need of power so if opportunities are given Malawi would really want to jump on this because it’s on our priority list of projects”.
She further stated that Malawi as a country has potential for power infrastructure development looking at the fact that she have the third largest lake in Africa, Lake Malawi, and the huge Shire River.
National electricity grid of Malawi is able to absorb power of approximately 400 MW which is far much below the national demand.
