Two fired pastors of Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Malawi, Steven Lamani and Gamilton Chikopa have dared to sue the authorities of their church in central region for improper dismissal on allegations that the two misappropriated undisclosed amount of funds.
The two disclosed to media that the decision is induced by the authority’s conduct to fire them ignoring SDA church rules and labour laws.
Lamani and Chikopa argued that the authorities have broken both church and government laws in firing them on grounds of misappropriating money believed to the amount of MK 500, 000.
Lamani told the media on Wednesday, 10, April 2017 that he has “written the church a letter of up to 20 pages to rejudge the case”.
SDA president for central region Jack Phiri refused to comment on the matter citing that the case cannot be presented to media.
Lamani is from Mchinji while Chikopa is from Tete in Dedza.
