Malawians have pledged to support Emma Mzagada who was a Malawi National Netball Team aka the Queens star in the late 90s to around early 2000.
Through a post that was shared by Dorothy Kachitsa, former MBC employee post on ‘Malawi Netball Fun club page’ a number of individuals have shown interest to support the Queens former defender. The post was originally written by Sam Banda Junior on his wall after a group of social football club members went to cheer Emma at her place in Chilomoni. They bought groceries like sugar soap and bread and also donated cash.
Some have suggested that the ministry of sports should be informed about Mzagada ‘s condition and asked government to intervene to help the bed ridden star.
Mzagada started playing netball with City of Blantyre then Produsak, Whitex, Silver Strikers and then Postnet and later MTL Queens now Thunder Queens before sickness pushed her out of the court in 2009.
She started playing for Malawi Queens in 1995 and played for the team for years with her last outing in Manchester, England
The other countries she has been to with Queens include Melbourne in Australia, New Zealand, Lesotho, South Africa , Botswana and Jamaica.
Mzagada has been sick for sometime and she needs special care according to her family members.She needs a wheel chair to be able to move from one place to another and other basic necessities. Some women through social media have shown interest to support her.
t should also be indicated that she needs urgent medical attention apart from other donations. Probably seeking medical attention outside the country.
It is said a WhatsApp group dubbed Emma Mzagada Trust has been created and people are sending their donations.
