Mangochi First grade magistrate court has convicted and ordered a 43 year old man Onana Kayesa to pay a fine of K150,000 or in default 46 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing goats
The court heard from Mangochi Police prosecutor Sub lnspector Grace Mindozo that, On the night of January 5, this year the Kayesa broke into a kraal belonging to lssah Asipolo and steal two goats with estimated value of K45000.00 both.
Mindozo added that, On January 16, 2018 the Police arrested Onana and recovered 3 goats more goats at Lungwena Trading centre that he stole from the kraal belonging to Alli James with estimated value of K55000.00.
Appearing in court the accused person pleaded guilty as charged.
In mitigation he begged for a lenient punishment however the prosecutor pleaded for a stiffer penalty.
When passing judgement his worship first grade magistrate Ronald M’bwana concurred with the state hence ordered him to pay K150,000 fine in default 46 months imprisonment with hard.
Onana Kayesa hails from Chilawi villsge Traditional Authority Namabvi in Mangochi.
