Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has impounded Black Punch liquor at Nathenje in the capital Lilongwe which was on its way to selling outlets on grouds that the hard drink is not certified by the board.
Confirming the development, MBS director general Davlin Chokazinga said the impounded liquor was about 17 000 litres.
Chokazinga has since appealed to all people to stop taking uncertified products for they have health complications.
The restriction on the production and selling of some spirits induced debate across the country with companies obtaining court injunctions.
Meanwhile, the spirits are still found on the local markets though government of Malawi through MBS continue to force bans on them.
Black Punch is processed by Global Kings Beverages Limited (Ltd) in Lilongwe.
