April 30 and May 1, 2017 brought a somber mood among people living around Divala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mtonda in Mangochi following a discovery of bodies of a 3 – year old Talandira William and his 17 year – old mother identified as Gertrude Gwedemula.
Margret’s father, Lubani Gwedemula told the police that the two went missing when elders went to discuss with family of William Jova who impregnated Gertrude and ran away in 2014.
The family of Gwedemula found the body of young Talandira hanging from a mango tree in the bush on April 30 and also discovered the remains of his mother Gertrude a day later.
According to Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Rodrick Maid, “postmortem results conducted at Chilipa Health Facility revealed that deaths were due to strangulation”.
The police has since advised the general public to always seek help of people around during times of disappointment.
Talandira William and Gertrude Gwedemula hailed from Divala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mtonda in Mangochi.
