Some pupils from Chintheche area in the lakeshore district of Nkhatabay who were expelled from school and fined on grounds of pregnancy have appealed at Mzuzu High Court against Chintheche Magistrate Court’s ruling.

Malawi News Hub understands that the 14 primary school pupils were expelled from school in April last year on issues to do with pregnancy. Their parents were also fine MKW10, 000.

However, the pupils have now appealed against the first ruling and are demanding justice saying their rights were violated.

Zodiak Radio reported that the court has now set Thursday, April 27, 2017 to start hearing the case.

The appeal is with the help from Youth Watch Society and Southern Africa Education Centre who are fighting for rights of the pupils and the parents fined without crime.
