One of the country’s music icons cum politician Lucius Banda commonly known as ‘soldier’ in music cycles has bemoaned the growing tendency of some people in Malawi who always seek free entry during music shows.
Soldier wonders why people who can manage to pay during music shows in support of artists in the country choose to seek free entries.
Soldier wrote on his Facebook page that, “people who do this when they get that free ticket they do come by car, they buy fuel for that car, in the show, they buy so much beer… Only paying to the artist is what they hate…”
The artist went on to say that such people are those that can never give free bread to the artist from the shops they own but they feel comfortable to enter in music shows free of charge though they know that “the artists have loans overhead”.
The Balaka based music veteran has since called upon all Malawians to support their artists as it is in other neighbouring countries such as Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Artists in Malawi cry from time to time over lack of support which has made some believe that music can never take someone high in the country.
