One of the old Malawi Defense Force (MDF) team in the TNM Super League Red Lions has retained the top summit after beating Dwangwa United with a goal to nil on Sunday afternoon at Balaka Stadium.
Red Lions descended to second position on Saturday following Premier Bet Wizards’ 1 nil win over Mzuni FC up in the north at Mzuzu Stadium.
Dwangwa United boys conceded an early goal to only take 3 points from the southern region which they collected at the hands of Blantyre United on Saturday at MDC Stadium in the commercial capital of Blantyre.
Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on Sunday had to feel the pain of dropping points for the first time this season after they were held to a barren draw with fellow city lads Azam Tigers.
Both team failed to score despite creation chances.
In other matches played on Sunday, Mafco FC lost to fellow MDF soldiers of Kamuzu Barracks by 2 goals to zero while Moyale Barracks smashed Masters Security with 2 goals to 1.
As it stands, Zomba based soldiers of Red Lions are taking the lead with 15 points while Premier Bet Wizards is coming second with the same points.
The Lali Lubani boys are on position 3 with 13 points from 5 games. Also with 13 points are Azam Tigers and Moyale Barracks on fourth and fifth position respectively.
